Painting this one was quite fun, even though I feel like I will never paint any real city again (well, partly real city).
Update: Allright, I forget to write a short explanation. So, this is alternative version of main character from sci-fi story I´m writing. The original character, Rhianon Eckhart ([link])/ Enid Ace (false identity, [link]) is captain of spaceship named Aquila and a time traveller. This one is her parallel universe version, which is captain of an airship with the same name (that explains those wings everywhere). She is smart, cynical and maybe just a little bit psycho . Also, the dog is something like "not so high-tech but still fully functional" alternative to her fancy robotic cat Octavia (now, can you guess his name? ). I´m wondering if someone noticed that her clocks are showing different time than Big Ben? The story is actually quite ridiculous sci-fi/detective thing, probably without any deeper meaning (and definitely no moral lessons) but I must admit, that I enjoy writing it more than anything else. Since I´m writing it in slovak, I´m not planing to upload it on dA (I guess it will just annoy most of my watchers). However I´m also working on a comic about this characters, which, I promise, will be in my horrible english.
It´s fully painted in Adobe Photoshop and took more than 100 hours of work.
Awww i'm going to london in a few weeks again <3 I love it there. I must ask, your backgrounds are sooooooo amazing! I have to improve with them.. any tips? :c
Thank you . Well, I´m not sure if I can give you any really valuable tips since I´m only self-taught and, I sure do a lot of mistakes but, here is something I learned about backgrounds: 1. I was really terrible at drawing backgrounds for quite a long time, allways started something, gave up quickly and replaced it with some simple gradient. I later realized the real problem was mainly in the fact that I was expecting to finish it too quickly. I was able to paint a character for 15+ hours, but gave up background after 2 only because it looked like a mess (I know, it sounds silly). Now I realize that it simply does take an awfully long time and the fact, that it looks like hopeless mess at the beginning, does not tell anything about the final result. 2. Using various brushes to do textures, since textures can do a lot. 3. Frequently zoom in and out to check the details. 4. I prefer to work on the whole background "simultaneously", it just makes the objects blend togenther easier. 5. I often observe objects around me, their textures and lights on them, and somehow try to think about them as about brush strokes (sounds weird but, I think I improved a bit since I started doing it.) Well, I´m not sure if this will help you, but I can´t think of anything better right now, sorry. Good luck and enjoy London .
Well yeah that's mostly my problem too :c I give up tooo quickly just because it is crap.. But thanks a lot! c: I'll try to keep it in mind thanks a lot! <33
And so many details!!!!! It's so fun to look at it!
Well done.
